Thunder Bay bound

Will be residing out in Thunder Bay for the foreseeable future. Won’t affect the iceboating in the least. I’ll be back home for periodic visits to get the iceboating in. And anyway, the DN iceboat racing scene is so much better out east. Maybe I should have brought a boat. . . or two?

Done a few expeditions over the winter months and have posted a few TV spots I did for CTV and ShawTV as well. Was in talks with Nautica Clothing and SailRacing out of Sweden, but nothing as of yet has panned out. To be continued…

Taking a Break (from racing)

Needless to say, the office took a seasonal break from the local sailing scene to pursue other interests this summer. Big boat long distance races? Kite boarding in exotic places? We’ll see what comes of it.

Sailing in Vancouver

I was invited to do a race on a C&C 115 for those of you boat people that know what it is. For those of you that don’t, it’s a 37 foot long high performance racer/cruiser. Big thanks to Dave the skipper, and the crew of Merlin for having me come aboard, and Pacific Yachting for hosting me too.

Needless to say, I had a blast, and did a few hardpoint shots with the GoPro to see what works, what doesn’t. Video up soon-ish.

Kiteboarding these days

Back in November, we can thank the boys down in Bermuda (a wee vacation) for the motivation to go purchase a kite. Nothing like the winter to keep us busy with iceboating and now kiteboarding as well. Purchased a 10.5 m^2 made by Naish… Awesome video to come shortly!

New Sailing Video Added

The latest sailing installment has been added to the net and is appearing in our feature video slot… and soon to be added to our Vids page.

These boats are called i14’s and there are quite a few of them in Alberta being sailed competitively. They are 14 feet long, 6 feet wide, and carry lots of sail area for the size of boat. Sailing i14’s involve stamina, strength, and agility in order to sail the boat to its full potential.

Cottage Magazine Article, Nov/Dec

This is a shout out to Desiree and Dale of Cottage Magazine for coming up with a great two page spread in regards to what can be done at the cabin during the cold winter months. Thanks guys! Hopefully this promotes the sport of iceboating at least a little bit.

Iceboating season has been bunk thus far, but hopefully Feb/March begins to see some improvement.

Finally got a chance to put a bit about us up on the ‘About’ page.
